Eliminating dead zones and buffering across a large multi-level home.
The homeowners had upgraded their internet plan twice but were still fighting dead zones upstairs, dropped video calls, and streaming that buffered every evening. The problem was never the internet speed. It was a single consumer router trying to cover a 4,200 sq ft, three-level home.
A single ISP-provided router sat in the basement office, leaving the upstairs bedrooms and back patio with little to no signal. With two adults working from home and three kids streaming and gaming, the network buckled under everyday load.
We ran a wireless site survey to map real-world coverage and interference, then designed a hardwired-backhaul mesh system with access points placed for full coverage. We separated the network into trusted, work, and guest/IoT segments so a smart doorbell could never see a work laptop.
The clean answer was running new Ethernet up to three ceiling access points, but the drywall work pushed it past what the homeowner wanted to spend. Instead, we used the home's existing coax for a wired backhaul and put the extra hours into access-point placement and channel tuning. More legwork for us than a straight cable pull, but it got to the same no-dead-zones result without opening up any walls.
“Every corner of the house finally works, including the back porch. Video calls don't drop anymore, and the kids stopped complaining about lag.”
